Walsall manager Chris Hutchings 'has funds for players'
Chris Hutchings' Walsall have lost seven of their last eight matches
Struggling Walsall will try to bring in new players before the weekend in a bid to reverse their slump, chief executive Stefan Gamble has revealed.
The Saddlers slipped to the bottom of the League One table after a 1-0 defeat at home to Yeovil on Saturday.
"Funds are available to bring in a couple of new faces to freshen things up on the playing side," Gamble told the club website.
"We hope to have some on board before Saturday's fixture against Exeter."
Walsall have won just two league games so far this season - a run that has piled pressure on boss Chris Hutchings.
He continued: "We are all extremely disappointed with our start to the season, no-one more so than Chris and the rest of the backroom team.
"We know that results simply haven't been good enough but we are all working hard behind the scenes to turn things around.
"The supporters have been very patient and, for that, we thank them.
"However, we all know that the best way to show our appreciation is by getting results on the pitch."
Walsall have taken just one point out of the last 21 available in League One and have also crashed out of both the Carling Cup and the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at the first round stage.
