Businessman Leigh Pomlett becomes new Walsall director

Leigh Pomlett
Pomlett has been a season-ticket holder at Walsall since returning to the Midlands two years ago

Lifelong Walsall supporter Leigh Pomlett has agreed to join the board of directors at the Banks's Stadium.

The 53-year-old has been following the club for more than 40 years, and has experience of working for some of the UK's biggest Blue Chip companies.

"Becoming a director of the club is realising a long-held ambition," Pomlett said.

"Having made a substantial loan to the club I am delighted to help the club progress on and off the field."

Pomlett is currently Executive Vice President of CEVA Logistics, and is pleased to have re-established his links with his boyhood club.

I have remained an avid supporter, getting to as many games as possible

"My father first took me to Fellows Park in the 1960s along with my brother, and both he and my uncle took us to most home games up until the late 1970s," he added.

"Despite travelling abroad most of my working life I have remained an avid supporter, always keeping in touch with the results and getting to as many games as possible."

Pomlett's role includes improving links between the Saddlers and their supporters after a season marred by off-the-field protests against the way the club has been run.
