Walsall top scorer Troy Deeney has hit 11 goals for the Saddlers this season
Walsall's Troy Deeney has launched an astonishing attack on his team-mates, claiming that some of them are happy just to 'pick up their money'.
Deeney's outburst came after Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Leyton Orient, which left the Saddlers 13th in League One.
"Some people are happy to let each game roll by and keep picking up their money," he told BBC WM. "It's pathetic.
"I've left my son to come to work and try and earn money, and I can't do my job if people aren't playing me in."
The 21-year-old continued: "If I'm not doing my job properly, I'm going to end up on the football scrapheap.
"I don't want that. I want to go on to bigger and better things but, unfortunately, I need other people to help me as well."
Saturday's loss at Brisbane Road came just a fortnight after Chris Hutchings' side were hammered 5-1 at Southampton. And Deeney believes that the club's supporters deserve more.
If I had enough money I'd give all the supporters their money back

"Against Southampton you've got excuses," added Deeney. "They've got a bigger budget, better players all through the team and they're just better. Those are the pure facts.
"But when you play against, no disrespect to Leyton Orient, an average team, it's made us look even worse.
"It was embarrassing and, as with Southampton, if I had enough money I'd give all the supporters their money back, but I don't earn enough.
"We've got very important games coming up and if we play anything like that against Colchester this Saturday we'll get whacked."
