Gray has previously had spells with Birmingham and Coventry
Walsall winger Julian Gray says he is looking to bring "something different" to the Saddlers after making his debut in Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Oldham.
The 30-year-old, who joined Chris Hutchings' side on a free transfer last week, came on as a second-half substitute at Boundary Park.
"Hopefully I can get some games and show what I can do," Gray told BBC WM.
"All I want to do is play and hopefully I will be able to bring something different to the team."
Gray will stay at the Banks's Stadium until the end of the season after being released by Barnsley in November.
We knew what qualities he's got by taking players on, but if we don't retain the ball and get it to him, then he's never going to do that

"There's quite a few games left before the end of the season so it gives me a chance to get some matches," he added.
"For me I just see it as an opportunity to play football. Hopefully I can show everyone what my qualities are."
The defeat by Athletic has extended Walsall's poor run to just one win in 10 games to leave them 12th in League One, seven points above the relegation zone.
"We didn't pass from A to B. Our retention of the ball was very, very poor," said manager Hutchings.
"We wanted to get him [Gray] on for 20, 25 minutes.
"We were looking for a little bit of a spark and we didn't have a spark.
"We knew what qualities he's got by taking players on, but if we don't retain the ball and get it to him, he's never going to do that."
