Walsall goalkeeper Rene Gilmartin has signed a new one-year contract with the League One club.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 keeper had a loan spell at Hednesford Town earlier this season but has not played for the Saddlers since 2006.

He will provide back-up for Clayton Ince next season.

The 20-year-old told the club website: "There is sure to be a chance for me somewhere along the line and it is up to me to take it."
