| Walsall goalkeeper Rene Gilmartin has joined Northern Premier Division side Hednesford Town for a season-long loan. The 20-year-old Republic of Ireland Under-21 stopper will make his debut in Saturday's friendly against Stockport. Walsall want Gilmartin to get valuable first-team experience and they will monitor his progress with the Pitmen. Hednesford have also signed former Shrewsbury and Redditch midfielder Mark Briggs from Willenhall Town and Jay Birch from Nottingham Forest.
