Mullen feels he is ideally qualified to succeed Richard Money (Walsall FC)
Walsall caretaker manager Jimmy Mullen says it is important a decision on a permanent successor to Richard Money is taken in the next week.
Many of the players are out of contract in the summer, and Mullen believes it is vital a decision is made soon.
Mullen told BBC WM: "Players need to know what future is open to them and the club needs to know who's coming and going too."
"Certainly in the next week or so, decisions need to be made," he added.
Mullen took on the role of caretaker manager following Money's resignation on 22 April and has presided over a 2-0 defeat to Huddersfield Town.
But after managing Burnley to two promotions he feels he is well qualified to take on the job permanently, although he would be happy to stay at the club under a new manager.
"No matter who is thrown forward, they won't have any more knowledge or experience than I already have.
"I enjoy this football club, it's a smashing, family-orientated club. I get on great with all the staff here and whatever happens, I hope that continues," he said.
