Midfielder Sonner leaves Walsall
Danny Sonner
Sonner returned to Walsall after rejecting Port Vale's contract offer
Northern Ireland international midfielder Danny Sonner has ended his second spell with Walsall.

The 35-year-old returned to the Saddlers in the summer from Port Vale, where he had rejected a new contract.

But after being restricted to just six appearances this season by injuries, he has asked to leave the club.

"Danny feels he is unable to make a telling contribution, and feels that it is in the interest of both parties that he leaves," a club statement read.

Sonner made 24 league appearances in his first spell at the Bescot Stadium, during the 2002/03 season.

He began his career as a trainee at Wigan and has also played for Burnley, Bury, Ipswich, Sheffield Wednesday, Birmingham, Nottingham Forest, Peterborough and Port Vale.
