Sonner returned to Walsall after rejecting Port Vale's contract offer |
Northern Ireland international midfielder Danny Sonner has ended his second spell with Walsall. The 35-year-old returned to the Saddlers in the summer from Port Vale, where he had rejected a new contract.
But after being restricted to just six appearances this season by injuries, he has asked to leave the club.
"Danny feels he is unable to make a telling contribution, and feels that it is in the interest of both parties that he leaves," a club statement read.
Sonner made 24 league appearances in his first spell at the Bescot Stadium, during the 2002/03 season.
He began his career as a trainee at Wigan and has also played for Burnley, Bury, Ipswich, Sheffield Wednesday, Birmingham, Nottingham Forest, Peterborough and Port Vale.
