Tranmere Rovers have extended the loan deal of striker Lateef Elford-Alliyu from West Bromwich Albion.

Elford-Alliyu, 18, will now stay at Prenton Park until 4 January.

The former England Under-17 international joined Rovers a month ago but has been restricted to just two appearances due to postponements.

Manager Les Parry told the club website: "He's done well since he's been here, has good pace and touch and gives us extra options."

Meanwhile, Parry believes his squad is much stronger this season and is confident of League One survival.

Rovers are one place above the relegation zone, but in a congested division, find themselves only eight points away from the play-offs.

"I think we have progressed and the lads we've brought in have done a good job," Parry told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"When we've been able to pick from a fully fit squad, it's shown in our performances and our results.

"The more frequently we can do that the better chance we've got of progressing and moving up the division."

Despite his confidence of potentially climbing the league table, Parry insists his squad must concentrate on reaching 50 points.

"I've always said our first aim is to reach safety," Parry continued. "Our first aim has got to be 50 points.

"When we get to 50 points we'll see what stage of the season that is. The earlier that is the more chance we've got to go and push on.

"If we're getting to Easter and we're close to that total, it will be fantastic for us."
