Broomes' versatility has been important for Rovers this season
Tranmere defender Marlon Broomes is delighted his side are still in with a chance of staying in League One.
Rovers are two points from safety with two games left, although their goal difference is inferior to their rivals.
"We could have really crumbled and been out of it a long time ago," Broomes, 32, told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"We haven't crumbled and we still give ourselves a fighting chance. If we're going to Stockport away needing a win, we'll take that."
Broomes had a great chance to seal all three points for Rovers in their 1-1 draw with Colchester on Saturday, and said: "I had a great shot there and I wrong footed the keeper and he's made a great save.
"It would have been brilliant to have scored that and we would have got the three points at the death.
"I thought it was a really spirited performance. We went a goal down early in the game and we responded brilliantly and got ourselves back in the game quickly.
