Tranmere Rovers' Ian Thomas-Moore craves safety

Tranmere Rovers captain Ian Thomas-Moore is plotting a course to get much-needed end-of-season points as his side battle to stay in League One.

Rovers are two points from safety behind Exeter and the striker knows what his side need to stay up.

"We need to take four maybe five points out of the last three games," Thomas-Moore told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"Looking at the games that we've got and what the other teams have around us, four or five points may get us in."

The 33-year-old knows the players need to seize on their last three games as an opportunity to avoid the drop.

"Les [Parry] has come in and done a really good job he wants to stay in this division as much as the players do," he continued. "It is important for him and the players to stay in this division.

"I myself didn't want to finish my career playing in the second division. But it's up to us now and hopefully we'll be OK."

Thomas-Moore knows the enormity of the pressure the players are facing, and the consequences if they fail.

"I've been at teams that have been close to the top and I never really felt any pressure," he said. "It's a different type of pressure when you're at the top of the league.

"Whereas, when you're at the bottom of the league if you go down a division your wages go down and everyone has to provide for the families at the end of the day.

"This is the most important three games in quite a few of those young boys lives."
