Tranmere Rovers have signed Middlesbrough defender John Johnson on loan until 31 December.
Johnson, 20, goes straight into the Rovers squad for Tuesday's visit of Scunthorpe United and boss Ronnie Moore is delighted with the signing.
"John is a talented young right-back who is comfortable on the ball," he told the club's official website.
"He is a good passer of the ball who will get crosses into the box, and is also capable of playing centre-back."
He added: "I'd like to thank Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate for allowing one of his most promising youngsters to join us for a month."
Born in the Park End area of Middlesbrough, Johnson made his debut for his home-town club in the 5-0 defeat by Chelsea earlier this season.
Meanwhile, manager Moore has recalled striker Terry Gornell back to Rovers from his loan spell at League Two side Accrington Stanley.
