Moore keen to extend Shotton stay

Ryan Shotton
Shotton has impressed Ronnie Moore since arriving at Tranmere.

Tranmere Rovers boss Ronnie Moore hopes to extend teenage defender Ryan Shotton's stay at Prenton Park.

The 19-year-old has played four times and scored one goal during an initial one-month loan from Stoke City.

Moore told BBC Radio Merseyside: "He is a super player. I've spoken to (Stoke boss) Tony Pulis and I don't think extending the loan will be a problem.

"He wants to be here and he is still learning - so that shows what a good player he is going to be."

Shotton scored as Tranmere won 2-1 at Huddersfield on Saturday to record their first away win of the season.

In his time at Prenton Park he has played at full-back and centre-half and says he has really enjoyed the experience.

"The lads are brilliant, they're all funny and they talk to me on the pitch, which makes you feel really welcome," Shotton explained.

"I'm only young and, with Stoke being in the Premier League, I need experience. If I need to go out on loan and get experience then that's what I'll do - Tranmere is a great place to do that."
