Glenn Hoddle is keeping his cards close to his chest about Tottenham's attempts to sign Leeds striker Robbie Keane.

Hoddle did say he had a list of strikers he was trying to bring into White Hart Lane but he would not confirm whether Keane was one of them.

Spurs director of football David Pleat has said that the club are interested in signing Republic of Ireland forward Keane.

"That's not necessarily true," said Hoddle. "We've got a list and that list will be my list and it'll be one that remains secret.

"You don't tell people other people's business, it's as simple as that.

"At the end of the day we know where we are looking at and what we need to bring in if it's available.

"But it's always difficult and we'll have to see where it takes us."

He added: "Like we did with Jamie Redknapp and Milenko (Acimovic), it will be revealed - if we do bring someone in - at a late stage. That's the only way to work."

A new signing is likely to appease Spurs fans who have become increasingly frustrated at the club's lack of activity in the transfer market.

And Hoddle added that he has high expectations of defender Goran Bunjevcevic.

Bunjevcevic's injury problems limited his impact at White Hart Lane last season.

But Hoddle is more hopeful this time around, especially after his pass set up Lee Barnard for Tottenham's third against Colchester in a pre-season friendly.

"He is a great footballer," said the Spurs boss.

"The ball he has hit has just split the defence and that's the ability he has got.

"It's a shame the Spurs fans didn't really see it last year because he's played for Red Star for nearly 10 years and he's been an established player.

"The English game is different and he was always going to need 12-15 matches to adjust and play like that.

"So we are starting again with Goran but I know that this lad's got such ability and he's got such a range of passing.

"He's been out for almost a year so he's feeling his way back in and its good to see."
