Torquay United manager Paul Buckle has placed captain Nicky Wroe on the transfer list.
The 25-year-old midfielder, who turned down a contract offer in the summer, did not travel with the squad to Crewe last Saturday.
Buckle told the club's website: "Nicky has been excellent for Torquay since he signed in 2008.
"But he has been thinking about his future and in my opinion that has affected his performance."
Buckle added: "Nicky was a vital part of the promotion team that got the club back into the Football League and he has put in some fantastic performances while at Plainmoor.
"But circumstances change and rather than wait for the transfer window to reopen it could well be a positive for everyone if Nicky finds pastures new.
"This decision does also tie in with the budget restriction because I need to shuffle the pack no to help the team progress.
"Nicky Wroe is a saleable asset to the club and we will be looking for a transfer fee for him."
