York City midfielder Nicky Wroe has been placed on the transfer list at his own request.
The 22-year-old told managing director Jason McGill and manager Colin Walker that he no longer wants to play for York City.
Wroe signed a one year contract last season with a further one year option, which the club has exercised.
A club statement said: "Everyone is very disappointed the player is not committed to the forthcoming campaign."
York are under no obligation to improve the player's terms but Wroe was offered an enhanced contract in line with the majority of his team mates.
Wroe missed the end of last season due to injury but he scored 10 goals in 39 appearances for the club.
