Johnson impresses Gulls manager

Torquay boss Paul Buckle says defender Brett Johnson has impressed him since joining the club on trial.

Johnson played in the Gulls' 2-1 pre-season win over Truro City and Buckle says he could take him into his squad.

"We'll just wait. I'm delighted with the squad I've got. Brett did fantastic for us, he's fitted in very well," Buckle told BBC Radio Devon.

"Sometimes at this time of the season you can really get some bargains because players get let down by clubs."

Buckle says he is now getting his side focused for their opening match of their Blue Square Premier campaign against Histon on Saturday.

"We'll have a sharp week this week and we'll head towards Histon looking to win the game and be really positive."
