Striker Matt Green has admitted that his decision to snub Oxford and sign instead for their Blue Square Premier rivals Torquay was motivated by money.
"I am going to be financially better off down here," Green told BBC Oxford.
"I don't want anyone to feel hard done by. The fans at Oxford were the best I've played for in my career."
The 21-year-old scored 10 goals while on loan at Oxford from Cardiff last season and the U's had been keen to tie up a permanent deal for him.
Green made just six substitute appearances for Cardiff in the League, and also had a loan spell at Darlington before his stint with Oxford.
