Atkins has guided Torquay to four consecutive wins in April |
Torquay United boss Ian Atkins has been named as League Two's manager of the month for April. He was only appointed as boss on 13 April, after the Gulls had lost both of their first two games during the month while John Cornforth was in charge.
Atkins had first arrived at Plainmoor in March as a football advisor.
The Gulls lost their first game when he was named boss, but have since claimed four straight wins, conceding just one goal, to edge away from relegation.
Another victory, against Boston on Saturday, would guarantee League football for another season.
The other contenders for the award were Chester's Mark Wright, Leyton Orient's Martin Ling and Northampton's Colin Calderwood.
