Swindon Town boss Paul Hart is refusing to accept his side will be relegated from League One despite losing 1-0 to Exeter City on Tuesday night.
Town are now seven points from safety with just seven games to go and have not won in almost three months.
"We have to maintain our belief that we can do it and we certainly believe we can," Hart told BBC Wiltshire.
"I've said before there will be lots of twists and turns and we've got to get this win and the sooner the better."
Hart took over the reigns from Danny Wilson on 3 March and has yet to see his side win.
In his six games in charge Swindon have picked up three points out of a possible 18.
"It was a big effort before we got here and that hasn't changed as that is the nature of a relegation fight," added Hart.
"I'm still optimistic and I have to be and everyone else should be."
Swindon take on Hartlepool on Saturday at the County Ground looking for their first victory since beating Charlton 4-2 at the Valley on 3 January.
