Swindon's Charlie Austin inspired by Bellamy article
Austin signed for Swindon from non-League side Poole Town
Swindon striker Charlie Austin says an article on Cardiff City's Craig Bellamy helped inspire his goalscoring form since returning from a shoulder injury.
Austin was on the scoresheet again in Saturday's 2-1 win against Colchester.
"George Wood the goalkeeping coach showed me an article where Bellamy said 'if you work hard the luck and chances will come for you'," said Austin.
"He told me to do that and obviously I've worked hard and since I've come back from injury I've scored six."
The 21-year-old made his Swindon goalscoring debut against Carlisle on 21 November last year and in that time has found the net 30 times in 60 appearances.
I'm just talking to the club, seeing what they say and hopefully I can sort a few things out
Charlie Austin on contract talks
Asked whether he ever dreamt of such a return before crossing the white line at Brunton Park, Austin told BBC Wiltshire: "No I couldn't.
"I'm just happy to be scoring the goals and feel I got rewarded by the gaffer with a contract.
"I've obviously progressed with the coaching and playing with better players. Many thanks to Billy Paynter who worked hard with me and now Vince [Pericard] and Thomas [Dossevi]."
The club have already confirmed they are in talks with Austin about extending his current deal beyond 2012 but the striker remains tight-lipped on the subject.
"I've obviously got to be loyal to my contract and I'm working hard to get the Town up the table," he said.
"I'm just talking to the club, seeing what they say and hopefully I can sort a few things out."
