Swindon Town manager Danny Wilson says it is important that Charlie Austin is not put under too much pressure.
The 21-year-old striker is yet to play a full season as a professional and has already scored this season against Brighton and Hartlepool.
"There's so much expectation on Charlie's shoulders and everyone expects him to score every week," Wilson told BBC Wiltshire.
"People forget his age, so we have to nurse him along at times."
Austin joined Swindon from non-league Poole last October and went on to score 20 goals in his first season with the club.
"He's going to have a period where he doesn't score," added Wilson.
"When that happens there are other parts of his game he has to work on."
