Michael Timlin rejected offers to leave Swindon Town

Swindon Town midfielder Michael Timlin says there were other teams interested in him this summer.

The 25-year-old midfielder chose to sign a new one-year deal with the Town in June, despite only making eight starts last season.

The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international told BBC Wiltshire: "I want people to know that I didn't end up staying because I had nothing else.

"I had other options to play first team football but I'm so happy here."

Timlin joined Swindon from Fulham in May 2008 after two different loan spells at the County Ground

But Timlin admitted: "Since I first came from Fulham there was high expectations of me... and I know I probably haven't met those expectations yet.

"But I'm determined to improve as a player under the gaffer here and hopefully put in good performances from now on."
