Wilson praises Swindon youngsters

Sean Morrison

Swindon manager Danny Wilson says he is pleased with the way the club's young players have developed this season.

Sean Morrison, 18, scored the winning goal against Southampton on Tuesday, playing with fellow youngsters Lescinal Jean-Francois and Lloyd Macklin.

"I've been very pleased with their progress," Wilson told BBC Wiltshire.

"With Sean, it's a great time to be playing in the team but because of his size and stature, people do forget how young he is," he added.

Jean-Francois was given a permanent deal by Swindon in the summer, after joining the club on trial last season.

Wilson is excited about the potential he sees in the 22-year-old Haitian international.

They're a little bit naive in certain things, but it will sink in. It's only a matter of time.

"He's played hardly any league football at all, and he's going to make mistakes but we feel we've got a very good player on our hands.

"He's got great ability, a terrific left foot and I think he'll develop into an extremely good player."

Swindon will have to rely on their youngsters much more this season, after trimming their squad over the summer.

And Wilson is confident they'll rise to the occasion.

"They're a little bit naive in certain things, but it will sink in. It's only a matter of time."
