Swindon Town caretaker boss Dave Byrne has said his biggest priority is getting results, particularly if he becomes the new manager for the club.
Byrne, who was caretaker boss before Maurice Malpas' appointment, is in temporary charge again following the Scot's departure last week.
Byrne has told BBC Points West he is "ready" to take on the job as manager.
"My aim is to get Swindon up the league as quickly as possible. We need to keep a forward momentum," he said.
"It is something that I want to do and hopefully I will get the job. I am quite confident with the group of players I've got that we are capable of doing it."
Byrne added that it would be a natural progression for him to manage the club having been a player, coach educator and having worked with the reserves team.
"I can only give it my best shot and if my best shot is to land me the job, then fantastic," he said. "If not, I am 100% behind the decision the board makes."
