Swindon caretaker boss Dave Byrne says he had "no disappointments" after being overlooked for the top job in favour of ex-Motherwell manager Maurice Malpas. Malpas will not take charge of the Robins until the planned takeover deal is finally completed, but Byrne will remain at the club as his assistant.
"His thoughts on the direction he wants to go in are exactly what I hoped to hear," Byrne told BBC Radio Swindon.
"I can't wait for him to get in here and get started."
Byrne continued: "Some of the ideas Maurice has thrown at me already are pleasing to the ear.

"Maurice is a football man. He likes the game played on the floor. I'm sure he'll press his mark on the squad.
"It will take him a couple of weeks to get his feet under the table, but he has been given a real good dossier on where we are, what we've got and what we need."
In the meantime Byrne has been told to continue trying to add to the Town squad, with a player expected to arrive on loan at Swindon as soon as the transfer embargo at the club is lifted.

"We've been assured that one lad will come on loan. Hopefully by the end of the week, I'll be able to give you his name when he arrives," Byrne said.
"My recommendations are that we need three, maybe four, players to add to the squad. If we can get them in, we won't be too far away at the end of the season."
