Swindon call on fans not to panic
Swindon's County Ground home
Swindon vice-chairman Mark Devlin has urged fans not to panic after the club was served with a winding-up order.

The order was made after an application by HM Revenue & Customs, and follows one which was made in January after the club defaulted on a 600,000 VAT bill.

Devlin said: "We have been asked to pay outstanding monies to the Revenue, but the situation is under control.

"Money is being put in place to settle this payment, as was always intended, by 18 October."

Devlin, who rejoined the club in September, added: "It is already partly paid and we were a little surprised this issue has gone public as confidentiality was part of our agreement.

"Publicity of these issues just causes people to panic, and there is really no need as the issue will soon be closed."

The January debt was settled after Swindon's benefactor Sir Seton Wills and the club's development partner, property company St Modwen, provided a 750,000 loan.
