Angel Rangel to miss Swansea City showdown

Swansea City have confirmed defender Angel Rangel's groin injury is not as serious as first thought.

The Spanish right-back underwent a scan on Tuesday after limping off after just seven minutes of their 1-0 Championship defeat at Bristol City on Saturday.

Rangel will be forced to miss play-off chasing Swansea's game with Barnsley at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

But Swansea are confident the 27-year-old will be available for their clash at Sheffield United on Saturday week.

Fellow Spaniard Albert Serran replaced Rangel at Ashton Gate and he or Alan Tate is on standby to come in.

Defender Fede Bessone is nearing a comeback from a calf injury but Ferrie Bodde and Jordi Lopez are still out.
