Swans boss Roberto Martinez is tracking 180 potential transfer targets

Roberto Martinez has warned Premier League clubs that Swansea City will not sell their star players on the cheap.

Top-scorer Jason Scotland has been linked with a £2.5m move to Middlesbrough while midfielder Ferrie Bodde has been linked to Bolton.

Swansea's on-loan winger Jordi Gomez, the Supporters Player of the Year, has won admirers from top-flight clubs.

"It is a great complement that our players are attracting interest from other clubs," said Martinez.

Swansea have been the surprise package of the Championship this season following their promotion from League One.

Martinez's men made an impressive play-off bid, which was only thwarted in the penultimate game of the season, with an attractive style of football that even shocked holders Portsmouth 2-0 at Fratton Park in the FA Cup.

But the Welsh club could be a victim of its own success as it has brought their star men to the attention of the bigger clubs.

Striker Scotland's 24 goals this season have inspired Swansea's push and he, like his team, have raised plenty of eyebrows this season.

Premier League scouts are tracking the £2m-rated Trinidad and Tobago international while Dutchman Bodde also impressed before his season was prematurely curtailed by a serious knee injury in November.

There are many signs that probably Jordi will love to stay with us but the three parties will have to agree

"To have so many admirers of our players is a complement because we are doing things right," said Martinez.

"We have had no formal bids but we don't want to lose any players but the good thing is that we don't have to sell to balance books and that is a very strong position for us to be in."

The thrifty Swans have sold big but bought prudently in the transfer market and the club posted a loss of just £91,761 in the year until May 2008 - a sum that does not include its playing squad as assets.

But Martinez pointed-out: "Every player has a valuation and that is the reality.

"Even Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United lose players so what chance have we got to keep every player we want?

"We have a strong bond throughout the club and we're delighted that we are where are where we should be and that is attracting attention of the big clubs."

Scotland and Gomez were honoured by their fellow professionals this week as the Swans pair were named in the Championship PFA Team of the Year.

Spaniard Gomez's season-long from Espanyol expires this summer but the relegation-threatened La Liga side might want to keep Gomez if they go down and are forced to sell their star players.

The Swans fear a bigger and richer club could pinch the £4m-rated 23-year-old from under their nose.

However, as part of the initial loan deal Swansea have first refusal on Gomez if the 14-goal midfielder does leave Espanyol permanently.

"Jordi will have a big say in what he wants to do and that is a priority," said Martinez.

"He knows he has found a home at Swansea, the way we play suits him and his life here is as close as he will get it back home.

"There are many signs that probably Jordi will love to stay with us but the three parties will have to agree.

"Jordi started slowly in a tough environment for a young man from abroad but he has finished with flying colours and we are delighted with the season that he has had."

Martinez has revealed he is tracking 180 players as he plans his summer Swansea recruitment drive.

Northern Ireland cap goalkeeper Alan Mannus of Lingfield is one supposed target as is 23-goal Queen of the South striker Stephen Dobbie.

Martinez will not discuss names but he does insist the summer will be no holiday for the Championship's youngest manager.

"I don't think managers can have any time off in the summer," he says.

"It is a critical time for a manager so I will be going to watch a lot of football."

Midfielders Owain Tudur Jones, Kris O'Leary and Matty Collins and defender Dennis Lawrence are all out of contract this summer.

But Martinez insists he will not discuss their futures until after their final game of the season against Blackpool at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday.
