The former Dutch Under-23 player, now 25, joins for a fee thought to be in the region of �50,000.

That amount could rise by a further �30,000 if Bodde makes 50 appearances for the Liberty Stadium side.

Swansea say they made a move for Bodde last season, but Den Haag's recent relegation from the Dutch top flight made the Welsh club's task easier.

"After we went down I wanted to make a step to another club," Bodde told BBC Sport Wales.

"I'd never been to Swansea, but they play in the English league and that's a dream for any Dutch player.

"I came to see the last game of the season against Blackpool and immediately loved the atmosphere, the supporters and the stadium."

Swansea manager Roberto Martinez was delighted with his acquisition - whose contract is believed to be for at least two years - and says Bodde has the quality to take the club forward.

"I'm looking forward to working with him and happy to add such a strong and important player in a department where we were lacking," Martinez told BBC Sport Wales.

"Ferry will enjoy the aggression of the British game, that's a big part of his play.

"He's been clear that he's coming here to play in the Premiership - either to get Swansea there or to use us as a stepping stone."

Martinez says that his summer recruitment drive is not over.

"I'm delighted with the squad I've got, but there are a few departments that we need to improve, we'll keep on looking," said the Swans boss.

Dunfermline's out-of-contract goalkeeper Dorus De Vries is one target.
