New Sunderland signing Lorik Cana is targeting a top-ten finish in his first season in the Premier League.
The 26-year-old midfielder, joined from Marseille in July, says there is enough quality in the squad for them to be competing at the top end of the table.
"Last year was difficult but this year we have a new manager and new players.
"We're going to try to give all that we have, and I think to be in the top ten and good run the in the cup is okay for the club," he told BBC Newcastle.
"My first impressions are that it's fantastic - the training ground, stadium, the people and my team-mates.
The Albanian captain signed a four-year deal with the Black Cats, becoming boss Steve Bruce's third summer signing.

Lorik Cana
After spending the last six years in France, Cana says he is spurred on by the challenge of playing in the Premier League.
"It's something very exciting for me to see a new league and new country," he added.
"It's the best league in the world, every week you play in fantastic stadiums at fantastic clubs.
"I have to change a little bit. I've played many years in France with Paris and Marseilles, that's why I want the experience of playing in England and I think Sunderland is a good place to begin.
"I'm a typical midfield player - I try to be a leader and always give 300 per cent.
"In England everybody plays strong and fast and I have that sort of game."
Cana, who made his first appearance for the Black Cats in a friendly at Celtic last weekend, says he has been amazed by the level of passion he has seen from the Sunderland supporters since he made the move to Wearside.
"I see everybody here is proud to support the team.
"Some people who work here have the tattoo of the club and this is something incredible.
"They have passion for the club and identity is very important. I'm proud to be a player here and to play in this shirt."
