Jones' return to action came in the derby with Newcastle
Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones has refused to put a timescale on his return to full fitness.
Jones, 24, made his first start of the season in Saturday's 5-0 defeat to Chelsea but confessed he is still yet to find match sharpness.
"I've been out for a long time, I guess when I feel like myself again I'll know," he told BBC Radio Newcastle.
"I can't say whether it's going to be tomorrow, two weeks, three weeks, we'll have to wait and see."
It was during a friendly for his country, Trinidad & Tobago, against England in June, that Jones picked up the knee injury which sidelined him during the summer break.
And he admitted the thought of returning to first-team action, plus the support of people around the club and friends and family had helped him through the long recovery process.
"This was my worst injury by far and, touch wood, I won't have any more," he said.
"It was difficult to deal with but thank God I had my family, friends, support of the club and fans, thanks to them that they helped me come through this nerve-racking time.
"I was looking forward while I was in the gym, I had a calendar which I was marking off the days ahead of my return.
"The feeling of coming back was magnified 10 times over and it was definitely a good feeling."
