Gerry Britton is reshaping his squad for Division Three |
Stranraer manager Gerry Britton has axed six players from the squad relegated to Division Three after a play-off defeat by East Fife. Defenders Lee Sharp, Robert Walker, Willie Lyle, Scott Wilson and Will Snowdon have paid for a season in which Stranraer leaked goals.
Midfielder Dougie Ramsey is also being released, while versatile Joe McAlpine must prove his fitness to win a deal.
But midfielder Danny Mitchell and full back James McKinstry have re-signed.
Goalkeepers Allan Ferguson and Scott Black, midfielder Andy Gibson and defender Shaun Dillon have been offered new contracts.
And Britton hopes to hold re-signing talks with midfielder Mark Crilly and forward Paul McGrillen, who were not present at a team meeting this week.
Michael Mullen has returned to Queen of the South at the end of his loan spell at Stair Park.
Britton could be interested should the striker be made available by the First Division club.
But Stranraer will not be offering a contract to midfielder Neil Janczyk, who is being released by St Johnstone after spending the end of the season on loan with Britton's side.
It had already been announced before the play-offs that midfielder Paul McMullan and striker Kenny Wright were being released.
Midfielder David Hamilton and striker Michael Moore have signed pre-contract agreements with Second Division Ayr United.
