Stoke City striker Mama Sidibe has marked his return from a long-term Achilles injury with a goal in a reserve game against Burton Albion.

The Mali international, 31, found the net after just three minutes as the Potters won 2-1.

Tunji Agbaje scored the winner for a strong Stoke side that included Carlo Nash, Tom Soares and Michael Tonge.

Sidibe has been out of action since 21 August after rupturing an Achilles tendon in the 2-1 defeat by Tottenham.

The former Swansea and Gillingham man was expected to miss the rest of the season but is back well ahead of schedule.

His return will boost manager Tony Pulis' attacking options, following his decision to allow both Tuncay and Eidur Gudjohnsen to leave the Britannia Stadium at the end of the January transfer window.

Sidibe has not played for the first team since recovering from the injury but was an unused substitute for Stoke's FA Cup third-round replay victory at Cardiff.
