Stoke City's Danny Pugh wants to prove himself to manager Tony Pulis in the final three matches of the season.

The 26-year-old left-sided player, who has over two years left on his current contract, said he considered leaving earlier in the season.

"At the start of the season it was frustrating, I wasn't even getting on the bench, since Christmas it's turned around," he told BBC Radio Stoke.

"I've just got to prove what I can do, and stay in the manager's thoughts."

The former Preston and Leeds winger did not play a Premier League game until December but has since made 14 appearances and is likely to start the last three games at left-back because of an injury to Danny Higginbotham.

"Obviously it's the hardest job of a manager to keep everyone pleased, it's a big squad. I'm just pleased to be here helping the team."

Pugh signed from Preston for £500k in January 2008 after a successful loan spell.
