Stoke hit by Faye injury setback

Amdy Faye
Faye joined Stoke from Charlton in August

Stoke midfielder Amdy Faye will miss the rest of the season because of a back injury, reports BBC Radio Stoke.

The Senegal international has not played since the win over Manchester City in January, and needs an operation on a bulging disc.

The 32-year-old has made 22 appearances for the Potters since joining the club from Charlton in August.

"It's a disappointment for us, but we've got to get it sorted out," said Stoke manager Tony Pulis.

Faye signed a one-year contract extension in January, to keep him at the Britannia Stadium until the summer of 2010.
