Lawrence considering Crewe return

Veteran defender Dennis Lawrence has not ruled out a permanent move to Crewe Alexandra, after being told he can leave Swansea City.

The 34-year-old told BBC Radio Stoke: "I've fully enjoyed my [loan spell] at Crewe. They've been fantastic with me, and it's definitely an option.

"I'll sit down and speak to lots of people to decide what happens next.

"I've proven to myself that I've still got a lot to offer. I'll go away and look at what happens for next season."

Lawrence made 26 league starts for the Alex after joining them on loan from the Championship side in October.

His time at the Alexandra Stadium ultimately ended in disappointment, as Crewe were relegated to League Two on the final day of the season with a 3-0 defeat by champions Leicester.

"It's a massive disappointment, but it's one that we've got to live with because it's a reality," the Trinidad & Tobago international added.

"Everyone has to push on for next season. This is a massive club and it deserves to be in League One, pushing for the Championship.

"The season has just been not good enough. You can't fault our effort, but trying sometimes is not good enough.

"Now you're going to see what the real men are made of, and we have to make sure we are ready to come back from it."

Crewe manager Gudjon Thordarson has started to build his squad for next season, releasing five out-of-contract players on Tuesday.
