Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has praised chairman Peter Coates after the Potters were named Team of the Year at the BBC Midlands Sports Awards.
City were given the award in recognition of their promotion to the Premier League in May.
"A lot of credit goes to Peter, without him we wouldn't have won the award," Pulis told BBC Radio Stoke.
"He came back to the club and reinvigorated it, taking us to a level that everybody wants to be at."
And Pulis also said that the award was as much for the city of Stoke-on-Trent as it was for the club.
"It's great recognition of what the players achieved last year," he said.
"I'm delighted for the whole city. I'm very pleased for the public as much as anyone else."
