Stoke boss admits angry reaction

Tony Pulis's side picked up only their third away point of the season

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has said he lost his temper with his team for the first time this season during the half-time interval at Newcastle.

Having trailed 2-0 at half-time, his team-talk was the catalyst for Stoke's comeback to force a 2-2 draw.

Pulis told BBC Radio Stoke: "We had a decent following, who have paid good money to watch us, and for us not to have a go was not good enough.

"It was time to throw a few cups, and their response was fantastic."

The Potters looked to be heading for their sixth away defeat of the season when two-goal Michael Owen established a 2-0 lead for the home side within 24 minutes.

But Stoke reacted to their manager's strong words at the break, and came back to level with goals from Mamady Sidibe and Abdoulaye Faye.

Pulis added: "I don't mind watching my team and standing up for them if they're having a go, they're committed, and they're maybe lacking that little bit of quality.

"Had we played in the first half like the way we played in the second half, we would have been stood here talking about us taking all three points, not just one."
