Ibrahima Sonko joined Reading on a free transfer from Brentford in 2004
Stoke City defender Ibrahima Sonko admits that he is happy to wait for his chance in the Potters first team.
The 27-year-old, who joined City for 2m from Reading in September, has so far made just four appearances for the Premier League new boys.
Sonko told BBC Radio Stoke: "When I play, others have to miss out and when others play, I miss out.
"I accept that if I'm better than the others then I will be on the pitch. The team is bigger than individuals."
The Senegalese international started in the Potters' 1-0 Carling Cup quarter-final defeat at home to Derby on Tuesday night, his first appearance in a Stoke shirt since the 2-1 win over Tottenham on 19 October.
"I'm hoping this can be the start of my season and my Stoke career," said Sonko.
"I've got lots to show the fans, but I've got to wait my chance and it all depends on what the gaffer is thinking.
"There is good players at the club and that makes you work harder, so the next time I get a chance I will be a better player."
