Shaun Miller's goal ended Crewe's 13-game winless streak in the league as they beat 10-man Swindon 1-0.
Miller's fifth goal of the season came right on half-time after Joel Grant's shot was parried by Phil Smith only for Miller to lash home the rebound.
The most notable moment of a poor game was on 67 minutes when Billy Paynter saw red for a headbutt on Michael O'Connor, ending Swindon's chances.
It was the second year running Paynter had been sent off at Gresty Road.
