Cresswell looking for bigger role

Stoke forward Richard Cresswell hopes his performance in the 1-0 win over West Brom will enhance his claims for a regular starting place.

Cresswell is the most used substitute in the Premier League and replaced the injured Dave Kitson on Saturday.

"Being the most-used sub isn't something to be proud of but it was good to get on.

"I enjoyed it and think I showed a few people I can do it at this level," Cresswell told BBC Radio Stoke.

The win at the Britannia Stadium was the Potters' fifth home win of the season - as many as any other team in the league.

"We've got to make the Britannia a fortress and, at the minute, it's working well," said Cresswell.

A lot of people wrote us off at the start of the season but we'll keep proving them wrong

"Our away form needs to improve but we enjoyed beating West Brom and now we look ahead to Hull this Saturday."

Stoke have taken 10 points from their last five games but Cresswell said there will be no complacency when they meet a Hull side who have not won in five matches.

"Obviously it's going to be tough but we've got to play to our strengths," Cresswell added.

"A lot of people wrote us off at the start of the season but we'll keep proving them wrong."
