Form means nothing, says Gannon

Stockport boss Jim Gannon has told his players that their league form counts for nothing going into the play-offs.

County beat semi-final opponents Wycombe 6-0 at Edgeley Park earlier in the season, before taking a point from a goalless draw away from home.

But Gannon told BBC Radio Manchester those league results were irrelevant.

"We can forget about league form now. It's a two-legged, home and away situation with whoever's the best over those two games," he said.

"League form counts for nothing now. Whoever was fourth, fifth, sixth or seventh, it doesn't matter now. It's just us against them and we're looking forward to it.

"As you reflect on the season, everybody might be more fearful of Rochdale because of their form going into the games, but we beat them home and away.

"We beat Wycombe 6-0 here and they were so fearful of us down at their place they played for a draw at home which was interesting."
