Stevenage boss Westley to stay on

Graham Westley
Westley has been promised funds to find new players for Boro

Stevenage manager Graham Westley has confirmed he will stay at the club for the second year of his contract.

Westley took up the option to stay on after meeting chairman Phil Wallace and receiving the backing of the board.

Wallace said: "The talks were always about whether Graham wanted to do another year with us, not whether or not the club would offer him one.

"I made it clear from the start that if Graham wanted to go again next season, then the board were behind him."

And Wallace confirmed that funds will be available for Westley to work with over the summer.

"We will do our best to strengthen the squad for next season in the few areas that Graham has mentioned are important.

"We have to operate within our budgets but we've had some unexpected income of late and that should offset the losses we were racking up," he said.

"We don't expect to make wholesale changes, we really want to keep the backbone of the squad together, including the management team that have performed so well."
