On-loan Southend United striker Jack Midson says he is determined to remain a League Two player.
Midson, 27, won promotion from the Blue Square Bet Premier with Oxford United last season, but has made just six starts for the U's this term.
"It wasn't a secret that the gaffer wanted to get me out on loan to play some regular games," he told BBC Essex.
"I think a lot of Conference clubs came in but I've worked hard to get out of the league, I didn't want to go back."
He added: "I initially said I didn't want to go on loan because I've moved to Oxford.
"But I'm just pleased to be playing in League Two."
Midson kicked off his two-month loan spell by starting in Saturday's 2-2 FA Cup draw with Macclesfield, but failed to get on the scoresheet.
"I thought I did alright, it's just getting used to everyone," he said.
"I'm sure I can go from strength to strength over the next few games.
"Hopefully I'll score goals for myself and hopefully create some as well, which I normally do."
