Southend United striker Lee Barnard says there is good morale amongst the players despite "worrying" events off the pitch at Roots Hall.
The Blues told the High Court on Wednesday that they would repay a tax debt of £2.1m by the end of the week.
Barnard said: "It's been tough. It's been worrying, but to a degree there's nothing you can do about it."
"You're not thinking of all the other stuff going on [when you play], so it's a relief to be out there."
He added: "When you cross the line, it's at the back of your mind.
"We've got great spirit in the squad. On the training ground, it's been really upbeat and everyone's been happy. We've got a good bunch of lads here and we're all pulling for each other."
Barnard will be missing from Southend United's next match, the FA Cup first round tie at Gillingham on 7 November.
The 25-year-old was given his fifth yellow card of the season last week and is therefore suspended for one game.
He said: "It's disappointing. I though the booking [against Gillingham last Friday] was very harsh. I didn't think it was a booking but that's the way it goes.
"I'm gutted for the team because we haven't got a big squad, so it's going to be difficult next week."
But the former Tottenham trainee says he is happy with his start to the current League One campaign, where he is current joint top scorer.
"It's going well. Hopefully I can carry on and see how many I can get."
