McCormack scored his first goal in 11 months against Scunthorpe
Southend United can still reach the League One play-offs, according to midfielder Alan McCormack.
The Shrimpers secured their fourth win in five with a 2-0 defeat of Scunthorpe on Tuesday and are now 10 points from a play-off spot.
Goal-scorer McCormack told BBC Essex: "I don't think any team outside of the play-offs believe they cannot make it.
"As soon as you put a run together, your belief is there and we have got that winning feeling back."
He added: "I think Crewe have now won three on the bounce and Yeovil had gone four in a row, which just goes to show any team wherever you are in the league can put a little run together."
Southend's recent run of results has come after a lean spell for the Essex club, which saw them pick up only four points from nine games.
But McCormack explained the squad's belief in their own ability had never waivered.
"We knew it was there and that a little run was coming," he said.
"Hopefully this is the start of a long run like we had last year and it seems to be coming at the same time as last season when we started that..
"We've definitely kept plugging away and kept the spirits high in the dressing room and haven't let the defeats get us down.
"If you let it get you down and get into your head then you're on a downward spiral."
