The former France Under-18 captain made his Shrimpers debut on Saturday

Southend manager Steve Tilson praised the debut performance of Dorian Dervite in their 1-0 win over Bristol Rovers.

Dervite, 20, signed on-loan from Tottenham last week and made his debut in the Shrimpers first win of 2009.

Tilson told BBC Essex: "You can see he's technically a good player, who keeps things nice and simple and he looked very composed.

"In Ricky Lambert he was up against the top goal-scorer in the league, so I thought he did ever so well."

Dervite will be be part of the Shrimpers squad until the end of the season.
