Tilson insisted they needed to bring new players to the club
Southend United manager Steve Tilson feels their worsening injury list could drag them into a relegation fight.
Dougie Freedman, Anthony Grant and Alex Revell were all injured in Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Leyton Orient, leaving Tilson's options increasingly limited.
He told BBC Essex: "We've got to get some players in - we've got no bodies.
"It's getting desperate and we're going to have to get some players in otherwise we're going to get dragged into a relegation fight."
The three injuries picked up against Orient, added to Peter Clarke's suspension, means Tilson could be without six of his senior players for this weekend's fixture.
"If we play like that with the players we've got at the moment we'll be fine," he said.
"We've got a big game on Saturday against Yeovil at home and hopefully if we can get three points there we'll have a little buffer."
But he conceded that the situation was the story of their season.
"We've had injuries to key players, not just for two or four weeks out but they've been out for 10 weeks," he said.
"We've had no continuity and that's a major problem.
"We've had loan players coming in and then going. We've had Jean-Francois Christophe coming in and then not playing for six weeks.
"The youngsters are going to give you everything, but they're a little bit nave and they're going to be inconsistent and I'm not sure that's what we need at the moment."
