Southend United boss Steve Tilson is fearful injuries and suspensions could cost them dear.
Defender Peter Clarke was sent-off and midfielder Alan McCormack picked up an injury in the Shrimpers' 3-1 defeat at Stockport on Saturday.
Tilson told BBC Essex: "That's two senior players out and we're a young side as it is.
"To have those two players out of the side is a massive blow and without a doubt they will be missed."
Saturday's defeat leaves the Shrimpers 16th in League One and as they embark on a busy period of fixtures, with six games in the space of three weeks.
